Cameron Smith, the former captain of the Melbourne Storm, Queensland Maroons, and Australian Kangaroos, is set to be inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame as its 27th rugby league player.
This induction follows a remarkable career that included 430 NRL games with the Storm, alongside 42 State of Origin appearances and 56 Test matches for Australia.
Regarded as one of the game's legends, Smith led Australia to World Cup victories in both 2013 and 2017.
His record for the most games played is likely to remain unmatched, and his impact on rugby league throughout his career has been significant.
Smith, who is expected to join Kevin Walters' coaching staff for the Australian Kangaroos during the Ashes this year, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. "It is an incredible honour (and) one that I will forever hold with great pride," Smith stated.
