'He's gonna be as strong as an ox': Calf problem won't be a problem for Nicho Hynes in Origin as Sharks hopefuls gear up for final audition
A bunch of Sharks stars have one more game to show they deserve a spot in the Blues squad.
The folks over at news.com.au are saying Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon is feeling pretty good about Nicho Hynes' calf issue not being a hurdle if he gets picked to play halfback for the Blues.
The star player is the hot favourite to wear the No.7 jersey for NSW after leading his team to the top of the leaderboard.
Hynes will be facing off against Jarome Luai this Saturday, with a shot at playing five-eighth for the Blues up for grabs when the team is announced next Monday.
The former Dally M Medal winner has been on fire this season and steered his team to an impressive victory over the Roosters at Magic Round after sitting out the previous week in Melbourne due to a calf concern.
"The calf injury seems to be all good now, but we just need to keep an eye on it," Fitzgibbon said.
"It wasn't too serious at the time, but we need to be careful with his workload and ensure he's in top shape for the full 80 minutes this weekend.
"He's put in the work to get ready for this game, though not as much as he normally would.
It's a gradual process over a couple of weeks to make sure it doesn't flare up again.
