In a fiery response to the Wests Tigers' proposal for a new stadium in Liverpool, Inner West Council Mayor Darcy Byrne has slammed the plans as "ridiculous." The proposed 20,000-seat stadium, which would potentially become the Tigers' permanent home, has been met with strong opposition from Byrne.

The plan, spearheaded by Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun, has been touted as a long-awaited development in the southwest Sydney area.

However, Byrne has made his disapproval clear, stating that the proposal is unacceptable.

As the Tigers' spiritual home is currently at the aging Leichhardt Oval, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Inner West Council, Byrne feels a strong responsibility to protect the club's heritage.

The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Liverpool stadium plan is contingent upon the construction of 3000 new apartments, with the revenue generated from these properties intended to offset the cost of the stadium.

Despite this, Byrne remains firmly against the proposal, labeling it as "ridiculous." With tensions rising within the club, the Wests Tigers' civil war continues to escalate.
