Burton's Position: Doubling Down or Headed for Shake-Up?

In what promises to be a highly-anticipated Rugby League season, Bulldogs star Matt Burton is leaving no doubt about his preferred position.

Despite rumors swirling about a potential shift to the centres, the 23-year-old is adamant that he belongs at five-eighth.

With the club's recent recruitment of versatile players Blake Taaffe, Drew Hutchison, Kurt Mann, and Jaeman Salmon, who have all dabbled in the halves, speculation grew about Burton's role.

The prospect of Burton teaming up with three-time premiership-winning Stephen Crichton on both sides of the pitch was certainly enticing.

However, a move to the centres would sacrifice his renowned running ability while diminishing his kicking responsibilities.

Although Burton showed glimpses of his talent in the centres during his time at Penrith, including a try in the 2021 Grand Final, he is unwavering in his desire to shine at five-eighth for the upcoming season.
