Matt Burton is facing criticism for his inability to seize critical moments during the Bulldogs' narrow 15-14 Golden Point victory over the Dragons in Round 1.
Throughout the match, Burton found himself out of place several times when a field goal could have secured the victory in regulation time, leaving Stephen Crichton to clinch the win mere seconds before the Golden Point concluded.
In a show of confidence in Burton and Glavin, the Bulldogs decided to drop backup halfback Sean O'Sullivan from their roster before the match, but based on their performance, doubts linger.
Braith Anasta expressed disappointment in Burton's lack of preparedness to decisively win the game earlier in the second half.
"They didn't play out of this world," Anasta remarked about the Bulldogs while appearing on NRL 360.
"I couldn't comprehend when there was three and a half minutes to go and it was 12-all and Matt Burton and Lachlan Gavin did not even set up for a field goal."
