Sharks heartbreak in golden point

In a thrilling clash at Accor Stadium on Friday night, the Sharks suffered a gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of the Bulldogs, with Matt Burton delivering the final blow with a golden point field goal to secure a 15-14 victory.

Burton, known for his accurate kicking skills, had earlier missed two field goal attempts before finally connecting from 35 meters out in the 84th minute, breaking the hearts of Sharks fans everywhere.

This historic golden point clash marked a significant moment in the rivalry between these two teams.

The Bulldogs, on a hot streak with six consecutive wins at Accor Stadium, have now climbed to fifth place on the ladder, making a statement in the competition.

The match started with a bang as a Cam McInnes error in the Sharks' opening set of the night gave the Bulldogs an early advantage.

Viliame Kikau, an unlikely hero, capitalized on a loose ball and sneaked in a grubber kick that caught Sharks defenders Toby Rudolf and Braydon Trindall off guard, resulting in Kikau's first try since Round 3.

Another Sharks blunder in the 12th minute, courtesy of Sione Katoa's dropped bomb, allowed the Bulldogs to capitalize once again.

Reed Mahoney took advantage of the opportunity, darting over from dummy half to extend the lead to 12-0 for the blue and whites.

Despite a valiant effort from the Sharks to claw their way back into the game, Burton's decisive field goal sealed the fate of the match and left Sharks fans reeling from the heartbreak of defeat.
