Burgess Ponders Perth: Coach or Just Dreaming?

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Sam Burgess has expressed interest in becoming the head coach for a proposed NRL expansion team based in Perth, despite his current contract with Super League club Warrington lasting until the end of 2026.

He confirmed his ambitions publicly, stating, "It's a great opportunity and a job I've certainly spoken about.

I'd be interested in it for sure." Burgess emphasized his commitment to Warrington while also maintaining transparency about his future aspirations: "I've got a job to do here, but there will always be things happening in the background and I'm pretty open with the club about everything."

While no formal discussions have taken place, Burgess is regarded favorably by influential figures in Australian rugby, who see him as a compelling candidate capable of attracting talent from the NRL, Super League, and rugby union to Western Australia.
