Bunting Joins Perth Bears After Jersey Flegg Success

After captaining the Penrith Panthers to the Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup Grand Final, talented halfback Tylor Bunting has chosen to move to a new club as he continues his pursuit of an NRL debut in the upcoming seasons.

Bunting is the latest addition to North Sydney, joining fellow recruits Raymond Tuaimalo Vaega from the Sea Eagles and Tom Steadman from the Titans. His arrival will see him take over the No.7 jersey from former Dragon Jesse Marschke, who has announced his retirement from rugby league.

As he aims to make a significant impact at his new club next season, Bunting was drawn to North Sydney partly because it is one of two feeder clubs for the Perth Bears, who are set to enter the NRL competition in 2027.

"I'm not going to pressure myself into getting that, but if it comes off the back of good footy, then that's what I want - it would mean a lot to my family too."

"From day dot, they got me into it and they're everything. Since I was four, that's all I've ever wanted to do."

At just 21, Bunting's career began with the Panthers in the Harold Matthews Cup in 2021. He later moved to the Northern Beaches, where he spent three seasons with the Manly Sea Eagles, playing alongside notable teammates such as Gordon Chan Kum Tong, Lehi Hopoate, Samuela Fainu, Kaeo Weekes, and former halves partner Latu Fainu.
