Bulldogs winger's neck turns sidelining into a sport

Canterbury Bulldogs winger Marcelo Montoya is facing a significant sideline stint after needing a procedure on his neck.

Set to miss at least six weeks, Montoya has had a productive season, scoring 8 tries in 15 appearances.

This year marks his return to the Bulldogs after a four-year period with the New Zealand Warriors, establishing himself as a key starter when fit.

Despite missing the beginning of the season, Montoya's performance has been exceptional, suggesting he is currently in the form of his career.

However, his absence will be a considerable loss for the Bulldogs, as reports indicate he has been playing through substantial pain, stemming from a bone issue in his neck affecting his shoulder.

Montoya is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday, with the expectation of returning to play during Round 25 against the Melbourne Storm in Victoria.
