Canterbury Bulldogs players Jake Averillo, Declan Casey, and Jayden Okunbor recently had the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Channel 9's operations.

The visit was part of a photography and videography course that the players had been participating in during their time off from rugby league.

Arranged by the Club's education department, the visit aimed to provide the players with a better understanding of the inner workings of a television network and to help them develop skills for potential post-football careers.

The Bulldogs were warmly welcomed by producers and staff, who took the time to show them around and share insights into their work.

Sports reporter Emma Lawrence even took the team through an NRL story she had been working on, giving the players a firsthand look at the process of producing NRL coverage.

This experience provided valuable knowledge and opened their eyes to potential career prospects in the media industry.

During the visit, the players were given a tour of the studio and had the opportunity to listen in on live match commentary.

They also joined the panel to experience what it feels like to present from the NRL newsdesk.

These hands-on experiences further deepened their understanding of the media industry and the work that goes into producing sports coverage.

Last year, the players had the privilege of participating in a photography and content course, which was delivered in collaboration with the Elite Athlete Business School, the Brand Builders, and renowned NRL photographer Grant 'Chucky' Trouville.

Trouville was present at Belmore to teach the players tips and tricks for a potential career in photography.

The success of the course led to it becoming a regular option within the Elite Athlete Business School curriculum.

Excited to continue expanding their skill set, Okunbor, Averillo, and Casey expressed their interest to Bulldogs club career coach Renee Liddy in learning more about videography and editing.

Overall, the Bulldogs' visit to Channel 9's inner sanctum provided the players with a unique and valuable opportunity to learn from the best in the industry.

It not only enhanced their skills in photography and videography but also opened their eyes to potential career paths in the media sector.
