The Canterbury Bulldogs have officially announced the immediate release of young halfback Joseph O'Neill from his contract.
Recently promoted to the club's Top 30, the 22-year-old has signed a development deal with the St George Illawarra Dragons for the 2026 season.
"Joseph is a talented, young player and we're excited to be able to bring him to the Dragons," said Head coach Shane Flanagan.
"He's had plenty of success coming through the grades at the Bulldogs and is eager to continue to prove himself. He's hard-working and he's passionate about his footy."
"He provides us with some more valuable depth in the halves. It'll be good for him to meet the rest of the squad and really hit the ground running this preseason."
O'Neill has played 42 NSW Cup games for the Bulldogs and was part of the team that won the Jersey Flegg Cup premiership in 2023.
In a brief statement, the Bulldogs confirmed his release, allowing him to pursue an opportunity with another NRL club, and extended their best wishes to him and his family for the future.
