Bulldogs Lose Young Halfbacks to Queensland Club

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The Canterbury Bulldogs have recently lost two of their promising young halves, Rielly Laverty and Toby Batten, to a Queensland club after having previously recruited several talents from rival teams.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, the Bulldogs are focused on building their future with new signings, including Finau Latu and Michael Nassar, along with Aaymon Fitzgibbon, Craig Fitzgibbon's son, and Baxter Warner, Jack Elsegood's nephew, who both joined from the Dragons and Roosters.

However, the departure of Laverty and Batten, who were key playmakers and partners in the Laurie Daley Cup, marks a notable loss for the Bulldogs.

Both players were also part of the New South Wales Combined High Schools team that competed in the 2025 Under-18s ASSRL National Championships, along with the 2025 Under-18s Country side.

They have now signed with The Dolphins in Queensland.
