Tayla Preston's journey with the Canterbury Bulldogs became a reality when she was announced as the team's inaugural NRLW signing.
This milestone brought back a cherished family memory from over two decades ago.
The last time the Bulldogs claimed the NRL premiership in 2004, the Preston family, long-time supporters, celebrated with a framed poster of that championship team, which included NRL legends like Sonny Bill Williams and Hazem El Masri.
As the Prestons prepared to honor Tayla's achievement, they decided to hang the poster again, symbolizing her aspirations.
"We kind of said, 'We'll have to put that up around the house to set a goal,'" Tayla shared.
As they looked forward to her first match against Newcastle at Stadium Australia, this family treasure served as a motivational reminder of what was possible.
Tayla expressed her hopes for the future, saying, "It's pretty cool to be able to look at that.
I'd love to be able to lift the trophy up for the Bulldogs one day."
In summary, Tayla Preston's signing marks a significant moment in her life and her family's history, intertwining personal dreams with the legacy of the Canterbury Bulldogs.
The framed poster now stands as a testament to past victories and a beacon for future aspirations.
