In their inaugural NRLW season, the Canterbury Bulldogs maintained their unbeaten record, narrowly defeating the Wests Tigers 12-8 at Campbelltown Stadium on Thursday night.
The victory marked the Bulldogs' second consecutive win, highlighting their growing self-belief.
The match was challenging for the Bulldogs, especially towards the end when they were reduced to 12 players.
This occurred in the final four minutes when prop Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa was sin-binned following a confrontation with Tigers back-rower Montana Clifford.
Compounding their difficulties, the Bulldogs had already lost players Moana Courtenay due to a groin injury and Ash Quinlan from an eye injury, which strained their bench resources.
Reflecting on the match, Bulldogs lock Holli Wheeler emphasized the team's resilience despite the challenges, stating, "We were lucky to score those early first tries and we just hung in there at the death.
We want to be a team that's known for fighting hard and to show there's a lot of heart behind the jersey." This sentiment encapsulates the spirit of the Bulldogs as they continue to navigate their inaugural season with determination and grit.
