Reed Mahoney may be facing a departure from the Canterbury Bulldogs as Lachie Galvin prepares to join the club from the Tigers on a three-and-a-half year deal.

Reports suggest that Mahoney is currently out of favor with Bulldogs officials, particularly following the announcement of Galvin's impending switch, which includes a $165,000 transfer fee paid to the Tigers.

Galvin, a 19-year-old five-eighth, made the decision to leave the Tigers after rejecting a contract extension earlier in the season.

He informed the Bulldogs on Sunday that he would be turning down an offer from Parramatta to join them.

Canterbury's general manager, Phil Gould, commented, "What I understand of the situation right at the moment is that Lachlan Galvin has expressed his desire to play with the Bulldogs." He also noted that negotiations with the Tigers have yet to be finalized, adding optimism for a resolution within 48 hours.

As for how Galvin fits into the Bulldogs' lineup, it's still uncertain.

The current halves, Matt Burton and Toby Sexton, have propelled the team to the top of the NRL ladder after 12 rounds.

There is speculation that Burton might transition to fullback or the centers, which could then see Connor Tracey shifting to the wing.

Should Burton move to the centers, Stephen Crichton could fill the fullback position.

Meanwhile, Mahoney's future remains ambiguous as officials reportedly grow frustrated with his repeated disciplinary issues during games, which include frequent sin-binnings.

In summary, while Galvin's arrival is imminent and expected to change the Bulldogs' dynamic, Mahoney's role with the team appears precarious.
