The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs made history in their inaugural NRLW match, securing a 26-12 victory over the Newcastle Knights at Accor Stadium.
Initially trailing, the Bulldogs overcame a 10-6 halftime deficit to achieve a fourteen-point win, bolstered by impressive performances from Co-Captains Tayla Preston and Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa.
Debutant center Teakaraanga-Katoa scored twice, while five-eighth Ashleigh Quinlan also netted a double, with her second try clinching the match with just six minutes remaining.
Although the Knights threatened early, with five-eighth Georgia Roache scoring first to give them a 6-nil lead, the Bulldogs' defense, led by Wheeler and Teakaraanga-Katoa, thwarted subsequent attempts to breach their line.
A pivotal defensive stop by Wheeler stymied the Knights' efforts, helping the Bulldogs regroup and regain control of the game.
The match not only marked a successful debut for the Bulldogs in the NRLW but also highlighted their tenacity and team spirit.
