In a rapidly evolving landscape for junior talent, the Canterbury Bulldogs have signed young halfback Noah Fitzgerald from the St George Illawarra Dragons junior ranks.
Fitzgerald, who recently completed the Harold Matthews Cup season with the Illawarra Steelers, has confirmed a deal that extends through the end of 2028.
Despite being in and out of the Steelers' fourth-place team this season, Fitzgerald continued to refine his skills through various local rugby league engagements.
At only 17 years old as of March, Fitzgerald has drawn high praise from the Dragons' pathways coaches, showcasing his potential at a young age.
The Bulldogs have also secured Api Amone from the Illawarra junior system, who is related to former Dragon Talatau Amone.
Phil Gould and the recruitment team are focused on strengthening the club's future, recently adding notable junior representative fullback Connor Votano to their roster for 2027 and beyond.
This marks the second recent player departure for the Dragons, with outside back Tex Anderson announcing his move to the Dolphins starting in 2027.
Initially, Fitzgerald is expected to compete in the SG Ball Cup for the Bulldogs, with a potential transition to the Jersey Flegg anticipated in 2027 or 2028 following his commitments.
