Wests Tigers fullback Jahream Bula is reportedly nearing a new long-term contract with the club. His future has drawn significant attention, particularly due to player options in his current contract, which could make him a free agent at the end of the 2026 NRL season.
Since November 1, Bula has been free to negotiate with other clubs, but Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson suggested that a new deal is actively being pursued rather than simply opting into the existing one. He differentiated Bula from Lachlan Galvin, who previously expressed a desire to leave the club.
"I don't want to do a pick-up of the option, I want to do an extension long term," Richardson stated to AAP. "He wants to be here. Unlike Galvin, who didn't want to be here, he wants to be here."
Richardson expressed optimism about finalizing the contract, saying, "You never count your chickens until they hatch, but I am pretty confident we will get it done."
Bula's player option for 2027 was rumored to be around $900,000, and it is possible that a new deal, or a move to another club, could yield him a higher figure.
