The North Queensland Cowboys have made a shrewd signing by securing Harata Butler for the next two NRLW seasons, according to reports from cowboys.com.au.
The Kiwi-born front-rower had a standout debut campaign with the Sharks in 2023, displaying her power and determination on the field.
Butler's ability to gain valuable running metres and break through defensive lines was evident, as she averaged an impressive 63 running metres per game and surpassed the 100-metre mark twice.
Despite facing setbacks early on in her NRLW journey due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which left her rugby league career hanging by a thread, Butler's resilience and love for the sport drove her back to Australia in 2022.
Her outstanding performances in the Harvey Norman NSW Premiership caught the attention of the Sharks, who rewarded her with a one-year contract.
It comes as no surprise that Butler has also been recognized on the representative stage, earning caps as part of the Maori All Stars squad on two occasions.
One of her notable achievements was contributing to the Maori All Stars' triumphant 16-12 victory over the Indigenous All Stars in 2023.
With her wealth of experience and proven talent, Butler's addition to the Cowboys lineup adds depth and strength to the forward pack for the upcoming seasons.
