Broncos Great Fears Reece Walsh Could Be Lost to 'Worldwide' Rugby

Corey Parker has warned that the NRL may find it challenging to retain Reece Walsh, speculating that the global appeal of rugby union could eventually attract the Brisbane superstar.

As he heads into the second Test in Everton, Walsh stands out as the most discussed rugby league player in England. Last week, he dazzled fans by scoring two tries, breaking five tackles, and covering 243 meters during his team's victory at Wembley.

If successful, the 23-year-old could wrap up what has been described as one of the best seasons in recent memory by clinching a series win in the match set to begin at 1:30 AM AEDT this Sunday.

Walsh has emerged as a highly marketable figure in rugby league, with a celebrity status that rivals icons like Benji Marshall and Sonny Bill Williams at their peaks.

The Queensland star currently boasts the highest number of social media followers in rugby league, with nearly 1.1 million combined followers on Instagram and TikTok.

Even though Parker is not concerned about Walsh's ability to manage the increasing hype, he does express worry that this could lead to Walsh being tempted by larger opportunities outside of rugby league.

"My concern is that because he is of such a status and has such a cult following that he tries to go worldwide and bigger," Parker told AAP.
