Broncos' Veteran Injury: A Setback in the Scrums

Massive double blow for Broncos and Queensland after veteran suffers injury 'setback'

The Brisbane Broncos are facing a significant setback following their bye round, as veteran player Ben Hunt is still unavailable for selection due to a hamstring injury.

Coach Michael Maguire is under pressure to improve the team's performance, having only secured two wins in his last eight games.

Despite a recent victory against the Titans, the Broncos were hoping for Hunt's return for their upcoming match against the Sharks, currently positioned fifth in the league.

Hunt has been absent from the starting lineup since injuring his hamstring in round 10 against the Rabbitohs, where he limped off the field.

In his absence, Ezra Mam has stepped into the five-eighth role after completing his NRL suspension.

Upon Hunt's return, Maguire is expected to utilize him as the No.

9, which would necessitate dropping either Cory Paix or Billy Walters from the team.

Historically, Hunt has excelled in the representative arena as a No.

9, showcasing some of his best performances for Queensland during the State of Origin.

While he has primarily played as a halfback throughout his NRL career, the Broncos signed him with the intention of having him as a dummy-half, given that Adam Reynolds serves as their chief playmaker.

Maguire and fans alike will now have to wait another week, as Hunt's recovery has not progressed sufficiently for the Sharks clash.

This continued absence is also a disappointment for Queensland coach Billy Slater, who may have been counting on Hunt's experience for future matches.
