Broncos' Te Kura: Ankle's out, hopes still in

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The Brisbane Broncos have announced that Benjamin Te Kura has undergone surgery for a syndesmosis injury, which will keep him sidelined for an extended period.

According to Zero Tackle, Te Kura sustained this injury during the team's Round 14 victory over the Gold Coast Titans.

In his absence, Jack Gosiewski has been named to replace him on the interchange bench for the upcoming Round 16 match against the Cronulla Sharks, set to take place in Brisbane on Sunday afternoon.

While the Broncos have not provided a specific timeline for Te Kura's return, AAP reports that the severity of the injury could mean he will be out for approximately six to eight weeks.

This injury comes just after Te Kura's second game in first grade this season and the fifth of his career, following his debut last year.

In contrast, Gosiewski returns to the lineup after recovering from an injury that had kept him off the field for several weeks.

His inclusion is seen as a boost for the team as they prepare for their next challenge.
