In a crucial match against Cronulla, Gayle Broughton shone as the star player for the Brisbane Broncos.

She managed to score a double, contributing significantly to her team's important victory.

Despite Cronulla's determined fight until the very end, the Broncos held on to claim a 32-28 win at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville.

However, the Sharks did manage to score two quick tries, including an impressive 70-meter effort from Emma Tonegato, which brought them within a converted try of catching up in the final moments of the game.

This win propelled the Broncos into the top four, securing them third place with a total of four wins.

The loss earlier in the day for the Raiders against the Knights caused them to slip out of the top four.

The match started off tightly contested, with both teams squandering their chances.

Eventually, Hayley Maddick opened the scoring for the Broncos with some strong play, taking advantage of quick play-the-balls.

The Sharks quickly retaliated, with Ellie Johnston proving too powerful near the try line.

As the players tired in the heat, errors became a prominent feature of the game.

Nonetheless, the Broncos managed to turn the tide in the first half, with Annetta-Claudia Nu'uausala and Gayle Broughton, displaying an impressive individual performance, leading their team to a 16-10 lead at halftime.
