In recent months, several prominent Kangaroos players have chosen to defect from Australia, opting to represent their heritage on the international stage.
High-profile names like Payne Haas and Stefano Utoikamanu are set to pledge their loyalty elsewhere in 2025, and it appears that another star might be considering a similar move.
Brisbane Broncos center Kotoni Staggs is reportedly contemplating a surprising switch to represent Tonga, according to News Corp. This potential career-altering decision comes after a conversation between Staggs and Tonga coach Kristian Woolf, and he plans to evaluate his choices after the conclusion of the NRL season.
"I haven't [made a final decision] at the moment, I am just sitting on that," Staggs stated to News Corp.
"I have spoken to both of the [Tonga and Australia] coaches, 'Woolfy' and 'Kevvie' [Kevin Walters]."
"I just told them I want to play this season out, play good footy with the Broncos, and I will have a think after that."
