Broncos Sign Mitch Barnett to Two-Year Deal

Mitch Barnett Signs Two-Year Contract with Brisbane Broncos

The Brisbane Broncos have emerged victorious in their pursuit of Australian international Mitch Barnett, securing him with a two-year contract that begins next season.

The reigning champions are on the lookout for a replacement for Payne Haas, competing against several clubs, including the Manly Sea Eagles and Parramatta Eels, who were also interested in Barnett's services.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Barnett has agreed to a lucrative $2.4 million deal with the Broncos over the next two years.

His intention to return to Australia next year was communicated to the Warriors as he seeks a release on compassionate grounds; however, the club is actively looking for a similar player to fill his position.

Young talent Antonio Verhoeven from the Broncos seems to be the leading candidate to complete the trade between the two clubs.

Barnett is set to make his comeback from an ACL injury in the coming weeks, as he gears up to wrap up his tenure with the Warriors by 2026.
