Broncos shuffle, Cobbo returns for a rugby rumble

Cobbo earns Broncos recall, Smith set to return

Selwyn Cobbo is set to make a return for the Brisbane Broncos at fullback in their upcoming match against the Bulldogs in Sydney on Friday night.

This opportunity arises as both teams navigate absences due to Origin duty, with the Broncos missing critical players like Payne Haas and Pat Carrigan, along with Maroons rookie Gehamat Shibasaki and Queensland 18th man Reece Walsh.

Cobbo has not played since the Broncos' round 13 defeat to Manly but will take the field, while Deine Mariner returns in the left centre position.

Veteran Ben Hunt remains sidelined for at least another week.

On the Bulldogs' side, they too are coping without four players on Origin duty but retain Matt Burton at five-eighth.

Lachlan Galvin has been again named on the bench, while new backline additions include Blake Wilson and Enari Tuala.

Harry Hayes is slated to start in the front row.

Additionally, mid-season recruit Brandon Smith for the Rabbitohs has been listed on an extended bench but is expected to return from injury through NSW Cup, wearing jersey No.
