Broncos Seek Playmaker for Post-Reynolds Era

As the Brisbane Broncos prepare for a future without their seasoned halves, Adam Reynolds and Ben Hunt, they are reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring one of rugby league's top young playmakers.

Currently, the Broncos have Under-19s Queensland halfback Coby Black on their roster, who is seen as a potential long-term successor for the No.7 jersey. Additionally, they have recently signed Tom Duffy from the North Queensland Cowboys. Nevertheless, the Broncos remain interested in bringing another young halfback into their ranks.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Broncos have their sights set on Jonah Pezet and may pursue a late move to sign the Melbourne Storm playmaker. The North Queensland Cowboys and Parramatta Eels are also in competition for his signature.

Pezet may attract interest from the Perth Bears as well and would certainly be on the radar of the PNG Chiefs, should they receive NRL permission to engage with players starting November 1.

Often considered a future star alongside Isaiya Katoa and Lachlan Galvin, Pezet is viewed as a promising successor in the Storm's halves lineup. However, he currently finds himself behind QLD Maroons captain Cameron Munster and the 2024 Dally M Medal winner Jahrome Hughes.

Despite re-signing with the Storm less than a year ago until the end of 2029, Pezet is technically a free agent. This is due to a clause in his contract permitting him to explore options with other teams if Hughes' extension was not executed, which occurred in July.
