Broncos Outfoxed by Redcliffe in XXXX Derby

Broncos Pay For Mistakes Against Redcliffe

The Brisbane Broncos have copped a real hiding from Redcliffe in the XXXX Derby at Suncorp Stadium, after some costly errors at crucial moments saw them go down 40-6.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, a slew of mistakes in the first half gifted Redcliffe a hefty lead going into halftime, a deficit that was too much to overcome, especially without the likes of injured Kotoni Staggs who failed to make a return after the break due to a quad injury.

Standout players for the Broncos included Pat Carrigan, who notched up an impressive 119 running metres, 42 tackles, and a try, Corey Jensen with a whopping 52 tackles, and Jesse Arthars who put in a solid performance with 129 running metres, three tackle breaks, and a line break.

However, their efforts were ultimately not enough, leaving the Broncos teetering on the edge of the finals.

The match kicked off with a fierce battle for dominance, with the first 15 minutes resembling a real arm wrestle until Jamayne Isaako snuck across the line to score the opening try, putting the Broncos ahead 6-0.

Unfortunately, the momentum took a hit when Broncos Captain Adam Reynolds was forced off the field for a head injury assessment in the 17th minute, following a late tackle that saw Felise Kaufusi sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes.

Despite the setback, Redcliffe managed to stretch their lead to 12-0 with a try to Jake Averillo in the 21st minute, putting the pressure on the Broncos.
