The Brisbane Broncos have announced the signing of two new players, Azalleyah Maaka and Kerri Johnson, as they prepare for the upcoming NRLW preseason.

Both athletes, who are transitioning from rugby union, have signed contracts that will keep them with the Broncos until the end of the 2026 NRLW season.

Azalleyah Maaka, 24, hails from Bay of Plenty, New Zealand.

She is notable for winning a gold medal with the national rugby sevens team at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games.

Maaka recently showcased her skills playing for Chiefs Manawa in the Super Rugby Aupiki competition, where she competed from 2023 to 2025.

Known for her defensive prowess, she expressed her eagerness for the code switch, stating, "Rugby union was all I knew growing up but I have been looking forward to switching codes." The Broncos are optimistic about the contributions these new signings will bring to the team as they gear up for the season ahead.
