Broncos hooker heads overseas for 2026 season

Smoothy, a Brisbane Broncos hooker, will be taking his talents to the English Super League in 2026, bidding farewell to Red Hill at the end of 2025.

Known for being the bench dummy half under the tutelage of Kevin Walters in 2024, Smoothy has worked his way up from the Queensland Cup to the NRL level with the Melbourne Storm.

However, the tides have turned for Smoothy as he is set to slide down the pecking order at the Broncos in 2025 under the guidance of Michael Maguire.

With Cory Paix and Blake Mozer, who is recovering from injury, making strong cases for the starting spot, Smoothy has decided to take on a new challenge overseas.

He has inked a three-year deal with Wakefield Trinity, where he will be making his mark from 2026 to 2028.

Having been a Bronco since 2023 and having played 31 games for the club, Smoothy still has the potential to shine in Maguire's squad in the upcoming season.

His journey to Wakefield Trinity is a testament to his dedication and drive as a player, and he will no doubt bring his A-game to the field in the Super League.

Good on ya, Smoothy!
