Former Brisbane Broncos premiership winner, Wendell Sailor, has thrown doubt on the club's future following the recent departures of club legends Allan Langer and Kevin Walters.
The four-time premiership winner, who graced the field with Walters and Langer from 1993-2001, believes the Broncos are entering uncharted territory with Michael Maguire taking over the coaching reins.
Maguire's appointment comes after Walters was given the boot following the club's disappointing drop from Grand Final contenders in 2023 to a lowly 12th place in 2024.
With salary cap constraints looming over Red Hill, the Broncos may struggle to bring in any game-changers in the near future, as marquee players like Reece Walsh, Ezra Mam, and Patrick Carrigan are already on hefty contracts.
The financial squeeze could force either Kotoni Staggs or Selwyn Cobbo to seek greener pastures in the 2026 NRL season, with both players attracting interest from rival clubs.
It seems keeping them both happy may require some tough decisions and possible pay cuts.
As Sailor sees it, the road ahead for the Broncos could be a rough and rocky one.
