After the Broncos' 26-0 defeat to Penrith, coach Michael Maguire detailed his reasoning for using Ezra Mam off the bench.
Maguire acknowledged that a poor start hindered Mam's potential impact, as he only entered the game with 10 minutes left in the first half, with the team already down 12-0.
With the Broncos struggling to maintain possession, Mam faced considerable challenges in altering the flow of the match, which Maguire highlighted as a significant takeaway from the loss.
"We put so much pressure on ourselves but that comes from the opposition," Maguire stated.
"They came here and applied pressure and we had too many errors to be able to put yourself into a game like that. When you play high-quality teams you've got to build pressure, we just definitely didn't do that."
Maguire, who had been somewhat vague regarding Ben Hunt's position before Round 1, noted that the coaching team had considered the possibility of keeping Mam on the bench "throughout the week."
