The Brisbane Broncos' top dog, Dave Donaghy, has finally spoken out about the car crash involving their star player Ezra Mam, amidst speculation about his future on the team.

Mam, who is facing the potential axe on his hefty $4 million contract, allegedly found himself in a sticky situation after driving under the influence of drugs and ending up in a car crash - not exactly a textbook play in the Rugby League playbook.

In a chat on 4BC's breakfast radio show, Donaghy made it clear that Mam's future with the Broncos is up in the air, emphasizing that they are taking the incident very seriously.

It seems like Mam will need to clean up his act and shape up if he wants to stay in the game.

"We haven't huddled up internally just yet, we're waiting on all the facts to come in so we can make a smart play," Donaghy explained to radio host Peter Fegan.

"But as a club, we're pretty gutted to be caught up in this mess."

It looks like Mam may need to step up his game and show some serious maturity if he wants to avoid being benched in this high-stakes match.

Stay tuned to see how this drama plays out on the Rugby League field.
