Broncos' bite hurts as injuries pile up

Brisbane Broncos cop brutal double blow as two players sidelined for at least four weeks

The Brisbane Broncos are facing significant challenges as they prepare for Ben Hunt's return, with two players, Blake Mozer and Corey Jensen, sidelined for at least four weeks due to injuries.

Blake Mozer recently re-signed with the Broncos for another two years but has not taken the field under coach Michael Maguire this season.

Reports indicate he suffered a broken jaw during a Queensland Cup match, having left the game for a head injury assessment (HIA) and not returned.

It appears he suffered the fracture during the incident and could be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Mozer had just returned to play for the Broncos' feeder team after dealing with a shoulder injury sustained in pre-season.

While he is considered a promising talent at No.9, he hasn't been utilized by Maguire thus far this year.

In addition to Mozer, Corey Jensen is also set for an extended absence.

Jensen was a last-minute withdrawal from the Broncos' match against the Bulldogs and is currently dealing with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT).

He is expected to be out for at least four weeks due to this blood clot, as reported by The Sporting News.

With both players unavailable, the Broncos will look to other options as they work toward upcoming games.

However, they will see the return of veteran Ben Hunt, who missed play since injuring himself against the Rabbitohs in Round 10.

Initially serving as the five-eighth, Hunt might shift to the dummy-half position to accommodate Ezra Mam's return.

Having played extensively as No.9 for Queensland in State of Origin, Hunt's experience could significantly bolster the squad as they navigate this tough period.
