Broncos backed up by Walsh, Perham sidelined

Brisbane Broncos are facing a tough decision with the injury blow to teammate Hayze Perham, as coach Michael Maguire prepares to navigate the dilemma\.

The 25-year-old fullback, who had been making a strong impression in pre-season camp, reportedly tore his ACL during a trial game against the Titans over the weekend\.

Perham, who was shaping up to be Reece Walsh's understudy for the upcoming season, left the field with a limp after a brutal hit-up.

The footage shows Perham trying to dodge the hit by stepping back, only to buckle under the pressure\.

It's a tough break for the player, as reports indicate he could miss the entire 2025 season\.

NRL Physio, Brien Seeney, confirmed the non-contact knee injury and estimated a recovery time of around nine months, leaving Perham sidelined for his first season with the Broncos after switching from the Bulldogs.

Perham's move to Brisbane was aimed at getting more NRL action under Maguire's guidance\.

While Selwyn Cobbo could have been an option to replace Walsh at fullback, Perham was chosen for the trial game and was set to be a versatile backup option for the backline\.

The Broncos will need to find a way to fill the void left by Perham's absence, as they navigate through this setback in their season preparations.
