Michael Maguire Discusses Broncos' Bye Week as NRL Finals Approach

Broncos coach Michael Maguire recently shared insights into how his team spent their bye week, addressing concerns about potential loss of momentum.

Despite the break, the Broncos have secured five consecutive wins, placing them fifth in the NRL ladder heading into Round 21.

They aim to maintain this momentum as they prepare to face the Parramatta Eels at home, followed by another match against the struggling Rabbitohs.

During a recent appearance on SEN radio, Maguire disclosed that he encouraged his players and staff to spend quality time with their families during the break.

While some coaches prefer to keep their teams in training to avoid losing rhythm, Maguire took a different approach, offering his squad a five-day respite to recharge.

On their family time, Maguire noted, "With family really.

I'm usually pretty full-on with the players but when I get a chance I always love to get away with the family and just spend time at home.

Dropping the kids at school and getting to their sporting events and things like that, so it was actually a nice little break."

He acknowledged that teams often return from a bye a bit sluggish but expressed confidence in his players maintaining their performance levels.

"You get into a bit of a routine when you're going week-to-week, and we've been fortunate to have that over the last month," he remarked.

Maguire emphasized the importance of quickly regaining the team's momentum, understanding that a break can disrupt their rhythm.

"We've got to jump straight into what we're doing on Friday.

We've got to be very aware that Parramatta can start strongly," he stated.

As they look to secure a top-four finish, the Broncos are focused on their upcoming matches and determined to carry their winning streak into the finals.
