Ben Hunt is on the brink of returning to the NRL after being sidelined since round 10 due to a hamstring injury, presenting a significant boost for the Broncos and Queensland.

Reports indicate that Hunt is expected to make his comeback in Saturday's crucial home match against the Warriors.

He will undergo several fitness tests on his hamstring, and if cleared, he is likely to be named in coach Michael Maguire's 22-man squad on Tuesday.

Maguire stated, "'Hunty' is doing well.

We have just got to make sure the old boy is 100 per cent ready to go," highlighting the team's cautious approach to his fitness.

The Broncos have recently climbed to fifth place on the ladder following a remarkable comeback victory against Cronulla in round 16.

They will face a fourth-placed Warriors team eager to recover from a surprising defeat to a weakened Penrith side.

Should Hunt be fit to play, it would provide Maguire with a chance to see what many consider Brisbane's first-choice spine in action.

The team includes Reece Walsh, who is regaining form after his own injury, and Ezra Mam, who has returned to the halves following a nine-game suspension alongside Adam Reynolds.

Hunt's return would complete a formidable quartet by shifting to the hooker position-a role in which he has excelled at representative level for both the Maroons and Kangaroos.

His experience could enhance Brisbane's attack and offer critical leadership in high-pressure situations.

The competition for the No.

9 jersey has been between Billy Walters and Cory Paix this season, but one of them will likely be sidelined once Hunt makes his return.
