Brisbane is currently taking center stage in the world of footy, hosting more finals in the major men's codes than Sydney or Melbourne.
However, the supposed rivalry between rugby league and Australian rules football is far from the truth, according to the local AFL and NRL players.
In fact, there is a longstanding tradition of cross-code respect in Brisbane.
Broncos players, such as Adam Reynolds, Patrick Carrigan, Reece Walsh, and Tristan Sailor, joined the Lions in the rooms after their victory over Port Adelaide.
This tradition dates back decades, with former Broncos coach Wayne Bennett regularly fraternizing with Lions coach Leigh Matthews during Brisbane's AFL three-peat in the early 2000s.
The respect extends beyond the men's teams, as the AFLW and NRLW squads and staff came together in July for a new initiative.
This initiative, prompted by a conversation between Lions coach Craig Starcevich and Broncos' NRLW and game development head Paul Dyer, aims to share ideas and bring the women's teams together.
Dyer expressed his desire to have the girls come together from time to time and foster collaboration between the organizations.
