The Brisbane Broncos have announced that Michael Maguire will be taking over as head coach, following some late drama that has already overshadowed the announcement.
Maguire, a former NSW State of Origin coach, has signed a three-year contract that will see him leading the team until the end of the 2027 NRL season.
Maguire quickly emerged as the top candidate to replace Kevin Walters, and negotiations were swiftly carried out to release him from his contract with the NSW State of Origin team.
"I am a career coach.
I love the daily grind," Maguire, 50, stated at his unveiling press conference on Tuesday.
"While my last campaign in Origin was an incredible experience, I thrive on the day-to-day challenges of coaching."
The Broncos are hoping that Maguire's leadership and experience will bring a new energy and direction to the team as they strive for success in upcoming seasons.
