Brisbane Broncos send six to World Cup

Six Broncos Named in Kangaroos and Jillaroos Squads for 2026 World Cup

Tamika Upton, the 2026 Dally M medalist, is among six Broncos selected for Australia's squads at the 2026 Rugby League World Cup.

Upton joins Jillaroos teammates Jesse Southwell and Julia Robinson, while Reece Walsh, Pat Carrigan and Kotoni Staggs were picked for the Kangaroos after their contributions to the Broncos' 2026 season.

Upton has eight Jillaroos caps, while Robinson has 13, including four appearances at the 2022 World Cup.

Southwell made her Jillaroos debut at the 2025 Pacific Championships.

Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters said, "I'm really happy with the balance of the squad, we have some real strike power and a significant amount of experience, along with size, power and speed."

He added, "This will be a huge Test, I have never before seen the amount of talent spread across the top nations.

Jillaroos coach Jess Skinner said, "Selection was incredibly competitive and there were some very difficult decisions, but we believe this group gives us the balance, and versatility we need for a World Cup campaign."

She said, "We now have the responsibility to come together, represent the jersey with pride and make the most of the opportunity to play a World Cup on home soil."

The Kangaroos open against New Zealand at Allianz Stadium on Thursday, October 15.

The Jillaroos begin against Samoa at CommBank Stadium on Friday, October 16.
