The Brisbane Broncos have tackled their way into the record books, smashing their NRL membership record with a staggering 50,000 fans signing on for the season.
This achievement is as rare as a unicorn in the outback, making the Broncos the first NRL club ever to hit this milestone in a single season.
In a sporting journey that rivals the epic struggles of the Anzacs, the Broncos have steadily built up their membership numbers over the past few years, with totals of 47,300 in 2023, 36,800 in 2022, and 28,533 in 2021.
But now, like a charging forward breaking through the defensive line, they have burst through the 50,000 barrier with gusto.
The club's CEO, Dave Donaghy, expressed his delight at reaching this momentous goal before the season even officially began, likening it to scoring a try before the whistle had even blown.
The Broncos currently boast an impressive 53,672 members and have set their sights on scoring at least 60,000 by mid-season, a target that would make even the toughest coach crack a smile.
"This achievement is the result of hard work, dedication, and a bit of sheer grit from the fans," said Donaghy.
"It's a testament to the passion and loyalty of the supporters, who have been behind us every step of the way.
We may have had a cracking performance and a Grand Final appearance last year, but this record-breaking milestone has been in the making for some time now."
With their fan base growing faster than a bolt of lightning down the field, the Broncos are riding high on momentum and are set to make waves in the NRL this season.
As they charge towards their goal of 60,000 members, there's no doubt that the Broncos are a force to be reckoned with in the world of rugby league.
