Brisbane Broncos' Backs Injured, Tough Start Expected

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

The Brisbane Broncos have copped a massive hit to their outside backs just before the start of the 2025 NRL season.

According to reports from zerotackle.com, Kotoni Staggs sustained a quad injury during the final pre-season tussle against the Canterbury Bulldogs.

This setback has ruled him out for the first few rounds, possibly sidelining him for up to six weeks.

Pulling up lame early in the game, Staggs was in a race against time to be match fit for the season opener.

However, scans have uncovered a more serious issue than initially anticipated.

"Kotoni has done his quad and we got the results of his scan yesterday - he's set to spend the next 4-6 weeks under the care of the rehab team," explained Broncos Head of Performance, Dave Ballard, on Tuesday.

"We're backing him to give it his all in rehab and he's already diving into the program today, eager to get back on the field as soon as possible."
