Melbourne Storm's recent victory without Jahrome Hughes showcased their resilience, but to maintain their premiership aspirations, they will need to adopt a more straightforward style as they navigate his absence.

The team is optimistic that Hughes will recover from his dislocated shoulder in time for the finals, and their win against the Roosters highlighted their strength and determination.

However, this performance is just a glimpse of the challenges ahead.

The Storm face a grueling six-week schedule that could significantly impact their prospects while they await Hughes' return.

Their upcoming matches include a clash with a revitalized Parramatta, followed by games against Brisbane, Penrith (away), and Canterbury, before rematching the Roosters and facing Brisbane again on the road.

Currently positioned comfortably in the top four, the Storm's playoff position remains uncertain due to the caliber of their future opponents.

They anticipate the return of key players Cameron Munster and Ryan Papenhuyzen for the match against the Eels, while Tyran Wishart is set to take over at halfback.

Wishart, who impressed during his stint filling in for Munster last season, brings quality to the lineup but requires the team to adjust their playstyle.

"One of the strengths of the team is depth, it's getting tested at the moment with a few injuries and other circumstances but the depth will come into play now," he noted, emphasizing the importance of their squad's depth during this challenging stretch.
