Jarome Luai found himself in a bit of a pickle during a NSW team bonding session that turned into a bit of a comedy of errors.
The Blues playmaker had a near-death experience when his attempt at bodyboarding at URBNSURF went awry.
While his teammates tried their luck on surfboards, Luai decided to take a different route.
But it seems his lack of experience in the water showed, as he ended up needing a lifeguard to come to his rescue.
The Penrith star, known for his audacious plays on the field, found himself in hot water at the man-made surf park.
Admitting that he may have "jumped the gun," Luai had to be pulled out of the water while clinging on to a lifeguard's rescue tool for dear life.
It's safe to say that the Western Sydney boy, used to swimming at the local "Pondi," may have underestimated the power of the waves at the surf park.
According to reports, Luai, not exactly Michael Phelps in the pool, was challenged to take on the surf but quickly realized he was in over his head.
In a scene straight out of a sports movie, the daring dare turned into a dramatic rescue mission, with the Panthers playmaker needing some assistance to make it back to dry land.
While it may have been a scary moment for Luai, it's clear that he won't be forgetting this mishap anytime soon.
The Blues may have had a laugh at his expense, but it's all in good fun as they continue their preparations for the upcoming challenges on the rugby league field.
