Blues calf-turned injury: Game 2 dreams strained

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

The New South Wales Blues face a significant setback ahead of Game 2 of the 2025 State of Origin series in Perth, as five-eighth Mitchell Moses has been ruled out due to a calf strain.

Reports from zerotackle.com indicate that Moses sustained the injury during Thursday's training session.

Team performance manager Frank Ponissi confirmed that Moses will not be available for the upcoming match.

With just six days until Game 2, the Blues must adjust their strategy once more, having already relied on a new halves combination after Moses stepped into the number six position alongside Nathan Cleary in Game 1.

Their partnership proved successful, leading to a victory for the Blues.

This puts the team in a position to secure an unassailable lead before returning to Sydney for Game 3.

Moses is no stranger to injuries, having dealt with various issues over the past year, which raises concerns about whether his current calf strain will affect his availability for future matches, including the Eels' games or the potentially crucial Game 3 of the series.
