Blues' calf strain leaves game in a bind

The New South Wales Blues are facing a setback ahead of Game 2 of the 2025 State of Origin series, as five-eighth Mitchell Moses has sustained a calf strain and will be unable to play in the match.

Reports indicate that Moses injured his calf during training on Thursday morning.

In an unexpected decision, Jarome Luai has been confirmed as Moses's replacement and will wear the number jersey for the game, even though Matt Burton is also present in camp.

Burton will remain as the 18th man for the match.

Frank Ponissi, the Blues media manager, commented, "Unfortunately Mitch Moses suffered a calf strain at training this morning about 20 minutes into the session just taking it down a short side," as reported by The Sydney Morning Herald.

This development puts additional pressure on the team as they prepare for the crucial encounter in Perth.
