New South Wales have triumphed in a blazing State of Origin decider, with a gritty 14-4 win over Queensland in Brisbane, marking their first victory at Lang Park since way back in 2005.
The Blues, led by coach Michael Maguire in his debut season at the helm, dug deep to come from behind and secure the series win.
Trailing 4-2 well into the second half, the team showed true spirit and determination to turn the game around.
A standout moment came when Bradman Best touched down in the corner following a sensational break from Jarome Luai, putting an end to any fears of a try-less contest for the first time in nearly 30 years.
Mitch Moses then sliced through the Maroons' defense to seal the deal with a second try, much to the delight of the raucous crowd of over 52,000 fans.
The match was not without its share of drama, as a major scuffle resulted in two players being sin-binned in the first half.
Tempers flared, with players, some even in their civvies as reserves, getting involved in a bit of a melee that saw television monitors and chairs being flung about.
But in the end, it was New South Wales who emerged victorious in this fiery showdown, etching their names in history once again with a hard-fought win over their rivals from the north.
