Blake Steep, a highly regarded young forward in the NRL, has secured his long-term future with the Sydney Roosters after being allowed to negotiate with other clubs since November 1.

A report from The Daily Telegraph in October indicated that the Roosters had initiated discussions with Steep amid interest from rugby union.

Today, the club officially announced the extension of the 20-year-old's contract, which will keep him at the Roosters until the conclusion of the 2028 season.

Since his debut in 2024, Steep has received consistent playing time this season, appearing in 22 matches.

In these games, he has maintained an impressive tackle efficiency rating of 96 percent and has averaged over 22 post-contact metres per game.

Joel Carbone, the Roosters' Head of Recruitment, expressed his satisfaction in seeing a former Roosters Academy talent continue to thrive at the club.

"Blake has been a terrific addition to the NRL squad and he's a great example of the pathways we've built through the Roosters Academy," Carbone stated on the club's website.
