Blackout in Hamilton: Setting Sun Blamed for Poor Turnout

All Blacks, setting sun blamed for embarrassing scenes in Pacific Championship final

The Pacific Championships final in Hamilton, New Zealand, experienced a poor turn-out, with just 13,269 spectators in attendance.

The embarrassing scenes of a near-empty stand on the eastern side of Waikato's FMG Stadium were captured by television cameras, sparking criticism from viewers.

Veteran broadcaster Peters Peters expressed his disapproval of the situation.

One possible explanation for the low attendance was the positioning of the setting sun, with fans not wanting to sit in the stand opposite it.

Channel 9 reporter Zac Bailey highlighted this issue, stating, "Crowd doesn't want to be staring into the sun." Despite this, Bailey agreed that the crowd's size was disappointing for an international final and suggested that Hamilton may not host another league test for a while.
