Queensland Maroons coach, Billy Slater, has hit back at shocking claims of a clash with player Selwyn Cobbo on the eve of Origin 3.
Leading NRL reporter Danny Weidler raised eyebrows when he alleged that Slater and Cobbo had butted heads during training, citing differences in their approach to the game.
Slater, known for his no-nonsense mentality, reportedly clashed with Cobbo, who's said to have his own unique way of doing things.
Weidler described Cobbo as someone who marches to the beat of his own drum, while Slater demands discipline and a commitment to going above and beyond on the field.
Speaking on Sky Sports radio, Weidler questioned Cobbo's absence from Game 2 and speculated on the reasons behind it, adding fuel to the fire.
When confronted with the claims, Slater wasted no time in setting the record straight.
He praised Cobbo's enthusiasm and commitment to the team, refuting the rumors as "fake news".
"Selwyn is in great spirits, fully dedicated to his game, and ready to give it his all on the field," Slater told the media.
"I have no idea where these rumors originated from, but they couldn't be further from the truth."
In classic sporting fashion, Slater brushed off the drama and focused on the task at hand, emphasizing the team's unity and readiness for the crucial State of Origin decider.
As the Maroons gear up for battle, Slater remains confident in his players and their ability to come together as a formidable force on the field.
